4th of July 2012
I saw this photo in one of the newsletters I receive and just had to use it.
The photo kinda says it all. Don’t you think? A little silly, but wildly patriotic. At least that’s what Independence Day seems like in this country.
The U.S. 4th of July celebration is about getting out among family, friends and neighbors to casually burn burgers, munch on corn, listen to some stirring music, watch fireworks light up the sky and have a really good time.
It is also a time to recognize our good fortune as a country and as individuals for the freedoms we have.
Sometimes that good fortune feels like it comes from a lot of hard work and sacrifice. It did.
Other times it feels like Lady Luck played a role. She did.
While we burn the burgers, watch the 4th of July fireworks and make small talk with our loved ones, we might want to take a minute or two to recognize our good fortune as a country and as individuals. We may want to say ‘thank you’ for the work and sacrifices of so many and make a silent pledge to keep move forward.
Have a fabulous 4th of July celebration and stay safe!
