Small business owners often ask me how they can get better results from their advertising and marketing.  Typically, I find  they don’t define a target and they lack a Simon Sinek - Marketing meaningful message.  That’s because I don’t believe a Sale is a message worth advertising.

Explaining how to craft a compelling message that resonates with consumers can be difficult.

The good news is I just came across this TED talk by Simon Sinek: How great leaders inspire action.  I then found another video of a talk by Simon at a Behance conference.  Both will be included in my marketing assignments so  small business owners will begin to see their marketing and they’re businesses in a new light.

Who the heck is Simon Sinek?  Honestly, I am not all that familiar with Simon Sinek.  From what I can tell he is an author about leadership and promotes a simple concept call Golden Circle.  You can find out more about Simon Sinek and his Golden Circle concept by watching the Ted video.

What I can share with you is that Simon Sinek is talking about life principles…principles of human nature…and how these very same guide posts need to guide our businesses – even small business and your marketing efforts.

In many ways, Simon is describing how our world used to operate and function.  Yes, there have always been greedy, selfish people and businesses in the world.  But in the everyday world of a small business and a small community, I seem to recall a time when we used to function and act from such principles.

I don’t know if these ideals just fell out of fashion or we simple forgot how it felt to live this way.  What I can share with you is that Simon’s Golden Circle and how it could positively impact business – your small business – is dead on.

If you don’t understand people, you don’t understand business.
