Is it really getting better for small business?
Seems that might be the case according to a recent Wall Street Journal report.
Expectations are that small businesses will increase their staffs along with their prices and new programs by the government should spur community banks to be more generous with loan dollars.
Unfortunately, per WSJ, these changes will be small and the small businesses that will benefit most from these changes will be those that are currently healthy. Those still struggling will have to continue with their survival tactics of deep discounts and fewer support staff.
Frankly, the last couple of years should illustrate to all small business owners that ‘business-as-usual’ is no longer an option regardless of how they weathered that last two years. The tide has shifted and regardless of whatever tax breaks or new programs the government throws out there, the marketing and operations of small business has changed forever. Small business owners that embrace that change and learn new ways to market their businesses to capture more customers will most likely to be around to see 2012.
